It's been a long time since I've found a poet that captured my imagination. Ms. Waheed does that and more with writing that flows like water and seasons like salt.
This book was so beautifully written - descriptive, lyrical, poignant. The prose is a rare and precious jewel. The characters are complex and their stories compelling. MacHart delves deep into the human condition and makes you yearn for redemption in the darkest moments.
Who Killed My Church? is a captivating novel by James Shupp. A pastor of a dying church calls a consultant to help resurrect a once flourishing ministry. Mr. Shupp describes four stages in the life of a church, from movement to monument to museum to morgue. A museum on its way to becoming a morgue, Green Street Baptist Church is a figment of the author’s imagination. However, the problems that the church encounters are very real.
Who Killed My Church? is a must read for every pastor, leader and member of the Christian community. The truth is churches are dying daily. Too many churches have become boxes where Christians go to hide and commiserate about the good old days. Who Killed My Church? details the fictional Green Street’s journey from passivity back to passion and purpose. More importantly it begs real churches to ask pertinent questions. Where do we stand in the life cycle and what are we going to do about it? Who Killed My Church? is beyond entertaining. It will spark your passion, ignite your imagination and leave you with tools to revolutionize your ministry.
I received a copy of the book from bookfun.org for my honest opinion.
